Just a few thoughts from those that have already joined us.
On July 4th my wife, Laura, and I attended with our Moose Jaw friends, Michele and Randy. The music was incredible and very entertaining. The talent of the musicians was impeccable and versatile. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the event.
This was a special ending to our trip to Nova Scotia. We thoroughly enjoyed the musicianship, talent and versatility of the performers. Thanks for a wonderful evening. Also the gourmet dinners served by the Old Triangle were exceptional. The whole evening was great.
We had a group of 14 friends attend the final night and it was fantastic! Everyone of us enjoyed the high-caliber of the music. The venue was comfortable and the service and food was good. Hope you will continue with new shows next summer!
My wife and I had a wonderful time coming out earlier this month: well worth the price of admission and more! A great show!
Thank you Mike & co!
Just a quick note to say how much we appreciated the music last Wednesday night! The selections really highlighted the talent in the group, the acoustics were great, and the audience really got into it. No one in the audience was talking—was it really in Halifax?!
Note - the food service beforehand was brilliant and it was very good.
Wonderful food. The music was superb! Loved everything about it. Wished we lived closer so we could go again!
My husband and I had a fabulous time at the Old Triangle Pub for the Master Musicians of Halifax event. We had a great time thanks to super talented musicians, a fun crowd in a cozy venue with good food and service. It couldn’t be beat. GO!
Terrific evening! Great opportunity to hear professionals and to meet new people visiting our city. Looking forward to the next one!
First class musicianship
My jaw f@#$ing dropped
I just wanted to let you know how my group enjoyed your band. An incredible ensemble of talented musicians. You are correct when you say the hour and a half feels like no time at all and that is to your credit. You are consummate professionals.
My wife and I were visiting from Atlanta, Georgia on vacation and happened across your gig thinking it on the more Gaelic-side of the musical spectrum and were surprised when it was that and much, much, more.
What was fun was when y’all would be playing along and then one of you would elevate the song with their musicianship. I was mesmerized at George (and the others) sitting there not looking at the rest of the band much, yet were completely engaged in the flow of the tune.
Wednesday evenings in July and August
Settle into a historic downtown Halifax venue The Old Triangle, in their charming private An Seanchai room. Drinks and dinner at 6:45 pm | Master Musicians at 8:00 pm
PLEASE NOTE: THE 2022 SEASON HAS BEEN CANCELLED.
The Master Musicians of Halifax are drawn from a collection of the top musicians in Halifax. We’ve all played together many times—in each other’s bands, on each other’s gigs, backing-up headliners, in recording sessions, and at countless live music events.
Throughout the year we’re all busy working gigs with various bands, tours, concerts, musical theatre, club work, corporate events, private parties, festivals, and house concerts . . . and now we’re having a blast playing together every Wednesday in July and August.
The show is produced by Mike Cowie, and in it you’ll hear a non-stop 90‑minute live music performance featuring a delightfully eclectic mix of musical styles—you’ll recognize all the music we play.
This show is inspired by east coast Canadian folk music, traditional fiddle tunes, classic rock, R&B, operatic arias, Sinatra‑standards, blues, and classic country, among other styles. Soulful lead vocals, vocal harmonies, instrumental solos, and tight group ensemble playing are featured.
No song is ever played the same way twice. The rules are: be true to the song, be true to the group sound, and play your ass off. It’s all about the music.
